Data Privacy Day and HTTPS

Jan 30, 2020

Adthink helps publishers maintain advertising revenues and secure their users.

On January 28, 2020 was Data Privacy Day. At Adthink, we fully support every effort in protecting the privacy of our end-users. We brought to our publishers a Consent Management Platform (CMP) for free that helps collect the consents that are required to transmit personal data to us and our partners for effective targeting of ads.

We can do more!

And we should. Otherwise, we won’t be able to maintain the high level of monetization we provide.

On February 4, Google will release Chrome 80. This version will bring strictier management of third-party cookies that our advertising technologies rely on a lot. For them to still work under Chrome 80 and later, we encourage our publishers to set up HTTPS secure communications on their websites.

This will mainly consist of setting up an SSL certificate and redirecting HTTP connections to HTTPS. For example, http://adthink.com redirects automatically to https://adthink.com

For this, publishers can turn to their website hosting provider or do it by themselves. We recommend https://letsencrypt.org as a provider of free SSL certificates.
